Works exactly as advertised December 3, 2008 M. Fanto This devise is not a perfect panacea. If you don't have a signal anywhere in the vicinity that you plan to set up the booster, don't bother. It can't boost a signal which isn't there. Outside my house I had two bars on my phone and inside I would occasionally get a bar, but it wasn't strong enough to call or receive calls. I installed the antennae in the attic, and then fed the cable through the same wall that the TV cable runs through. You have to separate the antennae from the base by at least 15 feet or you will generate interference, and the higher the antennae, the better. I now have two bars inside. Simple and easy and worth the money.
Poor description! December 1, 2008 L. Ho Recently purchased this product and did not know that it has an external antenna that needs to be installed somewhere outside of the apartment/house. Since my apartment is small i didn't know that the device needed an additional 15 feet distance from antenna to device. I was disappointed to find that i was not informed of this when i purchased the item.
works better than expected October 25, 2008 Jason A. Philbrook (Rockland, ME United States) My house is on the wrong side of a small hill in a wooded area and has no reliable cell phone coverage, and had unreliable coverage in a couple little lucky spots. I have a yagi antenna on the roof aimed toward the cell sites, lightning arrestor, and a 50' cable coming in from the attic going to the basement, and up to the first floor office. Here the Wireless Extender attaches. I went from nothing to 20-80 percent of the signal bars depending on where I am in the house. The cell phones now have good signal and function properly.
Solves the problem October 24, 2008 Crofton B. Farmer This signal booster does exactly what it's supposed to do. As long as you have some detectable line-of-sight signal at some reasonably accessible location within the 50 feet of the supplied coax cable, it will boost your cellphone reception to full signal. You have to pay attention to the instructions, however, and of course make sure that you have the correct frequency for your cellular network. I am very pleased with the results - the initial try out took only a few minutes to find a suitable location for the antenna and the transmitter unit before tidying it up to make the installation acceptable to my wife! We went from zero bars inside the house to five - even saturation if you get too close to the transmitter unit. This was a very good buy.
It works! September 18, 2008 Thomas Kulig (hartford, ct) My cell phone reception has definitely improved; however, be ready to experiment a lot with placement of antenna and base unit. I almost gave up after crawling around in my attic for two days, but finally was able to get antenna and base unit placed in an area that provided better cell coverage through most of my 2,000 sq ft home.
