Amazon.com Product Description Merging an innovative slider design with an impressive feature set, the MOTO RIZR Z3 marks Motorola's first venture into the slider-style GSM market. Stylishly wrapped in a package for fashion conscious consumers looking for style and portability, the MOTO RIZR is packed with all the latest mobile technology, including a 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth compatibility, an advanced music player, EDGE high-speed data capability, and more. Design The RIZR Z3 takes the standard slider-style form factor to the next level with a sleek profile, and a unique, spring assisted opening design. It also takes familiar style cues from the wildly popular RAZR flip-phone. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the top of the slider. The 2-megapixel camera lens is discreetly housed on the upper backside of the phone, safely tucked away until ready for use. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control while a voice button on the right side of the unit allows you to enter voice memos and create voice dialing profiles. Most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone. Lastly, a memory card slot is included, allowing you to augment the RIZR's 23.5 MB of built-in memory. Calling Features The RIZR Z3's internal phone book can hold up to six phone numbers and three addresses per entry, while the phone's picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone. There's even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones. For times when you want to be discreet, there's a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names. And because the RIZR Z3 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation. Lastly, the RIZR's voice dialing feature makes calling family, friends, and business associates as easy as saying their names. Messaging, Internet, and Tools The RIZR Z3 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone's built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported, and the phone ships with a built-in email client. The RIZR also comes stock with a built-in web browser for downloads and mobile web browsing. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit--a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. With its Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be easily used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs for high-speed data transfer over the supported EDGE network when coupled with a carrier data plan. A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RIZR Z3 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. Use the phone's Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, and it can be used with Motorola's Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar, and other data with your PC. Imaging and Entertainment As mentioned, hidden behind the MOTO RIZR's eye-catching design is a powerful digital camera that features an LED flash, brightness control, and a night mode. With a dedicated side camera key and a landscape viewfinder mode, you can hold it and use it like a digital camera. Capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or email, or send them to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. Frame-worthy pictures be sent from the phone directly to your printer via PictBridge technology. The phone is capable of MPEG4 video playback when you receive a video message, or if you upload video to the phone via USB or Bluetooth. The RIZR Z3 also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress up the phone to suit your fancy. When the feeling strikes you, jam out to your favorite music on the RIZR's advanced music player. And because the RIZR sports a convenient memory slot, you can bring along a ton of tunes--the unit supports cards up to 2 GB (memory cards sold separately). Lastly, Java support is built into the RIZR, making it a powerful gaming companion. You can also use the handset's USB data connection to load more games and files onto the phone. Vital Statistics The Motorola RIZR Z3 weighs 3.92 ounces and measures 4.15 x 1.79 x 0.65 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 3.33 hours of digital talk time, and up to 225 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Ok phone, but only for a year or less - wears out December 16, 2008 J. Wise (Kent, OH) I'm glad I waited awhile to write this review, because when I first got this phone, I loved it (I should note that I'm already on my second one as the first one stopped working, and was covered under warranty). The music player is fun, and the camera takes good pictures (the flash is a helpful feature). But, as time goes on, this phone really wears out - and fast. The power/end call button stopped working altogether on my first one, and the select (circle) button fell off. The power button was a warranty issue, so I had to pay $10 (S&H) and got a new phone. Well, six months into the second one, I had the same issue w/ the select button. This is a well known defect with this phone, as I learned when I went into the T-Mobile store, but it is not covered under warranty. Then, about 3 months after that, the entire larger circle that contains the up/down/left/right arrows fell off. The phone is now very difficult to use as I must use my nail and press in one exact spot to navigate anywhere on the phone.
just got mine few days ago November 20, 2008 I. robinson got this phone in rose color;-)so far so good love how clear the pics are and how it opens and closes i use to have a prepaid phone now i have month to month minites.the color is so cute
Great overall phone November 9, 2008 Todd Fowler (Westerville, OH United States) I've had this phone for a few weeks now and am very happy with it. When I first turned it on, it was in Italian, but it wasn't too hard to switch it to English. It has good reception, great battery life, good volume. It works great with my AT&T pre-paid account. I bought a 2 GB micro SD card to put music on it and a Motorola USB to headphone adapter so that I can use my existing headphones. So far, there are only a couple of negatives. One is that I can't turn the headphone volume down low enough. Even at the lowest volume setting, it is still a little too loud for my liking. I may try to find a set of headphones with built-in volume controls. The other is a very minor issue, but still a little annoying, and that is the lag between when I press the shutter button for the camera and when the picture is taken. Since this is my 1st camera phone, I'm not sure if that is normal or not. When trying to take pictures of a 2 year old, you've got to be fast. Overall this is a great phone and was well worth the price.
Good Enough for Me October 1, 2008 DK (MA) I have owned 3-4 different Motorola phones and this is the one I like the most so far. Pros: SIM card - I travel to Asia often and it's great to be able to get separate local phone cards to be used on the same phone, instead of paying for all the roamings or having 2 phones for different places. Quad band - again, good for travelling. MP3/Camera/Videos - nice to play with. Micro SD card memory - store all your music, photos and video and other personal stuffs in the SD card. If one day you feel like getting rid of the phone, or lend it to someone else, just take away the SD card. No need to go through the entire phone and delete files. Slider - no worries about pressing some buttons accidentally. Of course you can always program a keypad lock. Cons Battery life... well, it started out great. Was impressed by only having to charge it 3-4 days with moderate usage. A few months later, similar usafe now requires me to charge it every other day. Still a good phone, and looks cool.
Rizr September 5, 2008 JC Loyd (Annapolis, MD) This phone is fantastic! It has a good heft in your hand so it doesn't feel dainty. The menus are intuitive & can be rearranged to fit your needs. The camera is sharp and the speakers seem to be able to make some noise. Lastly I love how they included a multiple number under one contact system, that makes my entry of numbers a lot simpler. I would definetly buy this phone again
