Huh, what did you say? What? What was that?..... &^&%$ October 30, 2008 HD Rider (Chino Hills, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading some glowing recommendations of this product, I feel as though I must have gotten a different product than what you all described. After installing this into 3/4 helmet, I was excited to be able to finally speak with my wife during my daily drive through LA traffic to work. She is pregnant and due soon, and I was nervous about being out of touch for an hour drive each way. As I left the house, I gave her a quick call to check how it works. At about 25 MPH and below, with the face shield down and locked, it works ok. But as I got up to highway speed, it was horrible. At 40 miles per hour, I could barely discern her voice over the wind noise. And this was after I put the bluetooth into LOUD mode. I stopped and readjusted the speaker, but it did no good. I couldn't hear a word she was saying. And the last words that I could hear from her as I sped up was "The wind noise is too loud. What did you say?" In all honesty, this thing is useless to me. I have sent three days trying to get this thing adjusted to be intelligible at all. I am not hard of hearing. I use my iPod all the time. But unless there is some severe defect with my particular device, I really don't know what all the excitement is about.
Blue Ant October 18, 2008 D. Jarrett (East Coast) Outstanding product, used with a Bluetooth transceiver and phone, not to mention used with another Blue Ant as an intercom....
GREAT INTERCOM SYSTEM October 15, 2008 Satisfied and happy (Clovis) I had read lots of reviews about this setup, and was hesitant... but now am so glad that I bought it. It is EASY and comfortable to use. Everybody says the intercom only lasts for 4-5 hours... that is about right... AND it is what is advertised on the box to do.... in STANDBY mode, it will go a lot longer. It is easy to charge and light, no issues with noise at any level, (3/4 helmets).... I would buy it again.
You will not be disappointed ... October 11, 2008 Sharon Anderson (United Kingdom) We were on a 2500 mile road trip around Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Colorado and needed bike to bike comms. I ordered two of these BlueAnt intercoms and they arrived the next day whilst on our road trip! (Thanks Amazon). I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to setting up gadgets. I usually leave it to my techy boyfriend to sort out things like this, but he was in the shower! I had them fitted to our helmets and scanned the user manual and we hit the road in 30 mins. They work very well and have plenty volume to be used when wearing ear plugs as well (Road King with no screen and riding at 85mph). I think the range on these things is about a mile, with perfect transmission, the only exception is it's got to be line of sight. If you go around a bend in cliffs the signal is broken until you can both see each other again but that wasn't a problem really. The battery lasts about 5 hours if you are nattering all the time but when you press the button once, (easy with gloves on) to put it in standby when you're not chatting, the battery lasts about 700 hours apparently! Don't worry if you're on standby and your mate wants to talk, it turns yours on automatically. They charge-up really quick too, when we forgot to do this and put them on for charge in the morning they were ready by the time we'd showered and packed the bikes. They made our trip all the better for having them and I think they are very good value. I'd recommend them to my biker friends for sure. (Also, I thought that once you had linked two comms units together so that they were paired on the road that you had to go through the pairing procedure again after having turned them off completely, but I found that not to be the case, they are still paired even if they've been off for days). Safe riding!
