Amazon.com Product Description
Weighing under half an ounce, the Jabra BT8040 works as both a standard communication headset for your mobile phone as well as a wireless music headset (mono). You'll be able to listen to music stored on your mobile device (compatible with the A2DP Bluetooth stereo music profile) and then quickly switch over to answering incoming calls. It also feature a third-generation Jabra ear gel for a comfortable in-ear fit without a hook.

The Jabra BT8040 enables you to listen to streaming music from compatible devices as well as take and make calls (see a larger schematic of all controls).
The BT8040 offers digital sound processing (DSP) technology and intelligent volume controls to reduce background noise for crisp, sharp sound, as well as e-SCO technology for crystal clear voice transfer between headset and phone. Acoustic shock protection automatically adapts and regulates the volume, safe-guarding the ear from sudden increases in noise.

Features and Specifications

  • Up to 6 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours standby
  • Operating range up to 33 feet
  • Optimized sound quality with Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and eSCO (Extended Synchronous Connections)
  • DSP (Digital signal processing) technology, active noise reduction, and intelligent volume equalisation
  • Acoustic shock protection
  • MultiPoint connects up to 8 devices--2 at any one time
  • A2DP Bluetooth profile for streaming music
  • "No hook" wearing style
  • Auto pairing, answer/end call, voice dialing*, last number redial*, reject a call*, call hold/call wait*, mute, quiet mode (*phone dependent)
  • Rechargeable battery with charging option from AC power supply or PC via USB cable

Listening to Music
The Jabra BT8040 is capable of streaming music over Bluetooth--either from a mobile phone or any other Bluetooth device supporting A2DP. Once you have paired your BT8040 with your mobile phone or to the Bluetooth music player, use your phone or music player to play, pause, stop, skip forward, or backward. When you receive a call, the music will be automatically suspended and you will be able to answer or reject a call through the headset. Once you end a call, the music should restart. On some phones and music devices you may have to press "play" to restart the music.

Using Jabra BT8040 with Two Mobile Phones
Jabra BT8040 is capable of having two mobile phones (or Bluetooth devices) connected to the headset at the same time. This will give you the freedom of having only one headset to operate both of your mobile phones. Please note that Last Number Redial will dial the number from the last outgoing call, independent of the mobile phones, and the Voice Dialing function will only work on the last paired mobile phone.

5 out of 5 stars I love it   April 13, 2010

I love this bluetooth, small, good reception, you can use it in both ears by just adjusting the ear gel a little bit. No more dealing with the hooks. I would recomend this product to anybody insterest it in it.

5 out of 5 stars Jabra bluetooth 8040   March 18, 2010
thetraveler (Oahu, HI USA)
The Jabra 8040 earpiece is unbeatable. In fact just recently, my Jabra 8040 accidentally got crushed (long story). The local stores didn't carry the 8040, so I looked for another that had similar features and capabilities. I couldn't find another one out there that had even close to the same features for the price. I ended up ordering on line and waiting for delivery (which takes a while here in Hawaii) rather than buy something less. The sound is crystal clear in both directions even when I'm outside and it's windy (which happens a lot here). It works well with my phone's special features such as voice commands. It has a great battery life. And best of all, it DOESN'T have the worst feature of almost every other bluetooth earpiece I looked at...the stupid, unattractive, and infinitely annoying ear hook. The plastic bud that comes with the 8040 keeps the piece in place nicely, and Jabra includes about half a dozen replacements in the box.
Pros: crystal clear sound, good mic pickup even in the wind, good battery life, pairs with more than one device, and works flaslessly with the cell phone special features
Cons: haven't come across any yet
I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a bluetooh earpiece, especially someone who wears glasses like I do and hates the ear hooks on most of the other earpieces. I don't just say I would buy it again, I actually did.

3 out of 5 stars Keeps you hands free, but background noise is not cancelled   February 24, 2010

Background noise is not filtered out as much as product claims. However, it does the trick if you need to be hands free.

4 out of 5 stars Great headset for the price   December 23, 2009

Used this headset a lot. I like that it fits into your ear and doesn't clip around it. I was using this headset almost every day until I LOST it. :(

5 out of 5 stars Great++++++   October 19, 2009
Ahmad C. Hajmirsadeghi (oklahoma city)
Great product, this was awesome its so small and light weight and comfortable. most people dont even know i am talking on the phone because it is so tiny. The sound is always crystal clear and it also has some noise canceling features that still are of the best quality but this headset is definitely better than any motorola one i have had esepecially the range. It goes farther than 33 feet and i have no problem with connection. It seems like with others once you start walking away from your phone you start to hear a little bit of static. But this one doesnt give you that negative static feedback. Thats why i would recommend it to anyone looking for a great device that is small and comfortable.
